Santa Cruz Holiday Lights Trains depart and return in front of Neptune’s Kingdom on the Boardwalk of Santa Cruz at 5:00pm, 6:30 for a 60-minute round-trip excursion. Ticket includes a $10 myboardwalkcard, good for games and activities.

Holiday Lights Train

A seasonal tradition returns to Santa Cruz with the Santa Cruz Holiday Lights Train. Vintage excursion cars, adorned with thousands of colorful lights, roll through city streets past homes of Santa Cruz. Live music by Steve Bennett, playing holiday classics to sing along to. Visit with Santa Claus and his elves as you sip on hot cider.

Chanukah Train

Thursday, December 7

We’ll share in Chanukah traditions and ride the train through the streets of Santa Cruz listening to Chanukah music and enjoying warm latkas and hot apple cider provided by Chabad by the Sea. Play festive games and win prizes!

New Year’s Train

December 26-31

Bring in the new year aboard the New Years Holiday Lights Train. Ride vintage train cars beautifully decorated with holiday lights through the streets of Santa Cruz. Light-up hula hoopers and a live DJ will keep spirits bright and help bring in 2024 right.

 

FAQ

Location:
The boardwalk at Santa Cruz is a 90-minute drive from San Francisco, 45 minutes from the Monterey/Carmel area, and 30 minutes from the San Jose area. Take Highway 17 or scenic Highway 1 to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Parking:
A surface parking lot is located directly across the street from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Who needs tickets?
Tickets are required for guests ages two and up.

Where does the train go?
All trains depart from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

How far does it go?
The train goes to the edge of the forest at highway 9 and returns to the Boardwalk.

What if there is inclement weather?
Trains run rain or shine.
Open canopy cars will be sheltered from the rain if needed. Cars are not heated. Please remember to bring a jacket.

Is the train handicap accessible?
Yes.

Are dogs allowed?
No.

How do I get my tickets?
Tickets can be picked up at the Party Room which is located to the left of the Boardwalk’s main entrance, just past the Bumper Cars facing the street. Please look for the Roaring Camp Holiday Lights Train sign and bring your confirmation number.

When should we arrive?
Plan enough time to park and to pick up tickets.

Are there food options?
Select Boardwalk locations will be open for food and beverage.
Eating is not allowed aboard the train due to covid.

Are there any refunds?
No.
