NEW ECO OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PROGRAMS AT ROARING CAMP.

Celebrating 45 years through the California Redwoods, Roaring Camp is excited to share more of its outdoor experience with its visitors by offering a new eco-adventure program that can be added to any group’s visit to Roaring Camp in 2008. Imagine cycling and hiking through an old growth redwood forest and seeing trees never seen by the public before as you learn about our varous eco-systems from redwood forests to chaparral and sandy covered areas. Learn and discover as you experience first hand that our part of the world was once under water and someday will be again because of the San Andreas Earthquake Fault. You’ll learn about the life of a dead tree and how it becomes an intergral part of the forest with its own habitat alive and well in and around it. Plus, Bear Mountain picnics are available for groups as part of the Bear Mountain Cycling Adventure and Norman’s Trail Nature Walk. At Roaring Camp, now you can do more than just see the forest. You can touch it. Feel it. Taste it. And experience it up close and personal.

The Bear Mountain Cycling Adventure
Roaring Camp offers four guided cycling programs, two beginner programs and two intermediate programs. For both programs the steam train to Bear Mountain may be added with a guided narrated cycling adventure down Bear Mountain and back to Roaring Camp. Both cycling adventures have the option of riding up and down Bear Mountain without the train, offering the cyclist more time on the bike. Our cycling program offers a narrated experience through our forest. Discounted group rates available.

Norman’s Trail - A Guided Nature Walk
Norman’s Trail dedicated in honor of Roaring Camp’s Founder, F. Norman Clark, Norman’s Trail offers visitors the opportunity to ride the steam train to Bear Mountain and experience a guided walk through the forest back to Roaring Camp. In 2008 the program will be expanded and offering a 90 minuted guided walk with a nature scavenger hunt and nature project once returning to Roaring Camp. Norman’s Trail will walk visitors through a virgin Redwood Forest, discover native plants and see some of the world’s tallest trees. A Roaring Camp Nature Conductor will guide you through the forest as you walk through parts of the forest never seen by the public before. You’ll learn about the life of a dead tree and all of the inhabitants that call it home, you’ll learn about the local history and how the land that is now Roaring Camp was part of a Spanish Land Grant and once owned by frontiersman Isaac Graham -- the cousin of Daniel Boone. Discounted group rates available.

Indian Creek Garden and Trail Restoration
An important part of living in a forest is giving back to the forest. As part of our 45th anniversary we are restoring a part of our forest with native plants and trees that call the Santa Cruz Mountains home. Groups will start with an overview on plant life in the San Lorenzo Valley then take a short walk to the Indian Creek Garden with a one hour restoration project and guided walk through the old growth redwoods on the way back to Roaring Camp.
Per Person - $5.00
